Nick Tan for LSA-SG

Hi! I am Nick Tan and I am running for an LSA-Student Government representative seat with the Michigan Action Party again!

I have been a representative on LSA-Student Government and the Appointments Vice-Chair for the past year, and served as the SAPAA Vice-Chair too last fall. I have a whole lot of projects that I wish to continue working on LSA Student-Government…

With your support, here’s what I will do if I get elected!

Increase Student Representation on Advisory Bodies:

Were you ever dissatisfied with how your freshmen orientation program went? Or ever wanted to increase the number of countries you could choose from when you wanted to study abroad junior year? Or most importantly, do you want the administration to make the BIG mistake of moving the graduation event to Eastern Michigan again? I guess not. If elected, I plan to increase student representation on the various advisory bodies. Student representation on these advisory bodies is currently minimal, and if elected, I would work to increase the number of students on these bodies to ensure that the student voice is heard.

Increase Collaboration with Athletic Department:

This past year, LSA-SG has taken the first step to initiate relations with the athletics department through the creation of a football guide for international and new students and providing transportation to home basketball games for students living on North Campus. However, I feel that more needs to be done in this respect. If elected, I would work with the Athletics Department and Registrar’s Office to allow student athletes to register for classes when they are away on competitions. In addition, I would work with the Athletics Department into providing transportation to away football games at Michigan State and Eastern Michigan.

Improve Accessibility of Academic Services:

Ever wanted to schedule an appointment with your academic advisor online at 2am? Or wanted to email your concentration advisor a quick question about the number of credits you need to complete your major or minor? Currently, academic services can be inaccessible to students, and I have been working to change that this past year. If elected, I will continue working on my goal of ensuring that all academic-related services are available around the clock, and as user-friendly as possible to students.

Please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns at nicktan@umich.edu.

Thank you for your support and remember, VOTE FOR NICK TAN ON MARCH 19-20!
